Wedding Carriages

Black Horses provide a bespoke Horse Drawn Carriage service covering Cumbria, the Lake District, the Fylde, Cheshire and other parts of Northern England.

Our magnificent Friesian Stallions are trained to the highest standards to ensure they carry out their work with enthusiasm and elegance. Put them in front of one of our elegant, hand crafted carriages and you will not fail to be impressed.

When considering a horse and carriage please bear in mind that our horses can pull the carriage a total of 7 miles per day. This is subject to the road conditions (ie hills, rough terrain) however we will always personally check a route once a booking has been made to avoid any disappointments on the day. If your planned route is further, you may like to consider splitting the journey with another form of transport.

We guarantee exclusive use of the horses and carriage on the day so you can relax and enjoy the moment without worrying we are rushing off to another location.

Your Perfect Day

When you contact us for a quote you can be sure there will be no hidden extras. We include the following as standard:

• A full display of fresh flowers (of your choice) on the carriage so you can be sure of consistency in your colour scheme

• A chilled bottle of champagne served in silver champagne flutes with a small selection of luxury confectionary

• A site visit before the day to assess the route and liaise with venues over access. This gives us the opportunity to identify any potential problems well in advance

• For Autumn / Winter weddings we provide antique foot warmers, fur lined hot water bottles and rugs to keep you cosy in the carriage

• Minimum 3 members of staff, immaculately turned out in matching livery costume. Your driver will be fully qualified with the British Driving Society to drive horses on the public highways

• A support vehicle to travel discreetly in front of the carriage if necessary to ensure a clear, uninterrupted journey.

A £200 deposit is required to secure the booking
