• How much do you charge for a wedding?
The cost is dependant on a number of things. Firstly the type of
carriage and number of horses you would like. Secondly, the location of the
wedding as we need to take transport costs into account. Back to the Questions
  • Can you provide your horses and carriage for our Prom?
We are able to provide our services for Proms taking place in Cumbria or Lancashire only. Back to the Questions
  • Do you charge by the hour or distance?
No, we have a set charge for the hire of the horses and carriage on the
day.  The same amount of preparation and staffing is required whether you
want the carriage for one mile or seven miles. Back to the Questions
  • How far can the horses travel?
The horses can pull the carriage up to 7 miles on the day.  There are two
reasons for this,  firstly the welfare of the horses, secondly a single
journey in the carriage takes over an hour.  If you spend any longer than
this in the carriage on your wedding day you will find it takes up too much
time when you already have a lot to fit in. Back to the Questions
  • My wedding reception is over 7 miles from where I am getting married, are you still able to help?
Yes, in situations like this we can take you to your wedding venue then
take you part of the way towards the reception, finding a suitable location
along the way where you can swap into a car. Back to the Questions
  • I am staying at, getting married and having my reception at the same place but really want a horse and carriage - what can you do in situations like this?
We can either collect you from the venue and take you to the horse and
carriage a couple of miles away so you can arrive by carriage.  Or we could
collect you in the carriage and take you on a short drive before taking you
back to the venue for the ceremony.  After the ceremony we can take you both
on a romantic champagne carriage ride whilst your guests get themselves a
drink to toast your return. Back to the Questions
  • It is only a short distance between my venues but I would still like a horse and carriage. Can you do additional trips?
Yes, we are happy to do as many trips as you like between venues as long
as the total distance travelled is no longer than 7 miles. Back to the Questions
  • Will you have more than one wedding to get to on the same day as mine?
No, we will only take one booking with the horses and carriage on the day
so you can be sure we will not be rushing off to another venue. Back to the Questions
  • My photographer would like to get some specific pictures of us with the carriage - will you be able to work with him/her on this?
We will always contact your photographer before the day to introduce
ourselves and will do our best to work with him/her to make sure you get the
very best images possible. Back to the Questions
  • Can we come and see the horses and carriage before making a decision?
Yes, you are more than welcome to come and see the horses at home without any obligation. Please call before you visit so we can make sure we are not out and about with one of the horses when you arrive. Back to the Questions
  • Are your horses well cared for as we have heard that some carriage horses are badly treated?
Our horses are part of our family and as such receive the very best care and nutrition all year round. They are trained at least 5 times a week and enjoy a varied program that includes dressage, driving, hacking, lunging and turnout. You only have to look at our horses to see they thoroughly enjoy their work and will always be fit and able to do their job without being under unnecessary pressure. We take particular care when viewing venues that we do not take on work that would cause unnecessary stress to the horses and have on occasions turned down weddings where the route has been too hilly. The horses all have new shoes at least every 6 weeks, sometimes less in the height of the season. They are fully vaccinated and wormed on a regular basis. Back to the Questions
  • How long does it take you to prepare for a wedding?
Preparation for your wedding starts many weeks before the day. We will visit your venues and liaise with them over access. We will also identify a suitable and safe place from where we can set up on the day and will assess your proposed route in order to eliminate any potential problems that could occur. A week before your wedding we will contact your photographer to discuss photo opportunities, we will also contact you to run through all the final details that you will already have filled in on your booking form. During the week running up to your wedding the harness will be cleaned and polished, as will the carriage and all the equipment and clothing required will be prepared and loaded onto our lorry. The horses will be bathed at least twice in the week before the wedding with their last bath the day before to make sure they look at their very best on the day. On the day we aim to arrive at our set up point at least an hour and a half before we are required. Sometimes this will be earlier as we will always add an extra hour to our anticipated travel time in order to take into account any holdups. The horses, carriage and harness will all receive a final polishing and we will be at your collection location at least 10 minutes before the required departure time. Back to the Questions
  • How do you get the horses and carriage to my venue?
We transport the horses in a custom made lorry and the carriage travels in a covered trailer to make sure it stays clean and dry during the journey. Back to the Questions
